1. Huaqiangbei Electronics Market
If you love tech, this is unmissable. Huaqiangbei is the world’s largest electronics bazaar, spanning several enormous malls filled with every gadget, component, phone, and accessory imaginable — often at factory-direct prices. Even if you don’t plan to buy, it’s a fascinating window into China’s tech economy.
2. Dongmen Pedestrian Street (东门步行街)
Shenzhen’s most famous shopping street, Dongmen is a buzzing, neon-lit commercial district packed with clothes shops, street food stalls, and entertainment. It’s especially atmospheric at night when the crowds fill the streets and the signs light up the sky.
3. OCT-LOFT Creative Culture Park
A converted industrial area turned creative hub, OCT-LOFT is home to art galleries, independent coffee shops, boutique stores, and street art. It’s a great place to explore Shenzhen’s creative side and escape the commercial frenzy of the rest of the city.
4. Shenzhen Bay Park (深圳湾公园)

5. Lianhuashan Park (莲花山公园)
Perched on a hill in the heart of the city, Lianhuashan Park offers panoramic views of Shenzhen’s skyline and is a favourite spot for locals. The park features gardens, a lake, and a famous statue of Deng Xiaoping — the architect of Shenzhen’s economic miracle.
6. Nantou Ancient City (南头古城)
One of Shenzhen’s best-kept secrets, Nantou Ancient City is the old town that predates Shenzhen’s rapid development. Ancient walls and traditional buildings stand in remarkable contrast to the modern high-rises surrounding them. The area has been revitalised with independent restaurants, galleries, and shops.
7. Window of the World (世界之窗)
A vast theme park featuring scale replicas of famous world landmarks — from the Eiffel Tower to the Pyramids to Niagara Falls. It sounds kitsch but is genuinely impressive in scale, and is a fun experience especially for families.
8. Splendid China Folk Village (锦绣中华)
Adjacent to Window of the World, this cultural park showcases miniature replicas of China’s most iconic sites alongside live performances of traditional dances and music from China’s 56 ethnic minority groups. A great introduction to the breadth of Chinese culture.
9. Dafen Oil Painting Village (大芬油画村)
One of the most unique attractions in Shenzhen, Dafen is a village dedicated entirely to oil painting. Hundreds of artists produce and sell paintings — from reproductions of the Old Masters to original contemporary works — in a warren of studios and galleries. You can even commission a custom portrait.
10. Shenzhen Museum
